What we collect
When you register as a member or alumnus, we collect the details you enter on our registration forms: your name, contact details, university or institution in Japan, degree programme and year, and your academic specialization or field of research.
Why we collect it
Member information is used to administer membership, invite you to AFSJ activities, and — with your consent — to contribute to career and specialization mapping databases maintained together with the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, which help match Filipino scholars in Japan with opportunities in the Philippines and Japan.
Consent
We only collect information you choose to give us, and we only use it for the purposes stated at the point of collection. Where your details would be shared for a specific initiative, such as an Embassy career mapping database, that is stated on the form and requires your explicit consent. You may withdraw consent at any time.
How it is kept secure
Member records are held in restricted-access systems available only to authorised members of the AFSJ Executive Committee for the purposes described above. We do not sell member information, and we do not share it with commercial third parties.
Digital membership records
Digital member cards and internal membership records are administered privately within AFSJ and are not published on this website.
Your rights
You may ask us at any time to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it from our records. We will act on such requests within a reasonable period.
